How to…

The cultural roots of sauna have origins in Finland, where it is an integral part of their way of life. Offering many health benefits, a sauna is the perfect place to relax and reconnect. The Finish have a saying “Everyone is created equal, but nowhere more than in a sauna.” The benefits of sauna (especially in conjunction with cold water) are said to include reduced stress and anxiety, improved heart health, quicker recovery time after exercise, detoxification of toxins and improved sleep.

Shoreline Sauna, located on the Jurassic coast, boasts spectacular views of the sea and harbour in Lyme Regis, Dorset. A wonderful place to enjoy a relaxing sauna and feel stresses drift away!

You’ll need to bring:

  • 2 towels (small towel/tea towel to sit on while in the sauna, and one for drying).

  • PLEASE COME ‘SWIM READY’. We have a small changing room so having your swimmers on under your clothes on arrival means you’ll have longer the sauna. (if booking a private session you're not required to wear swimwear in the sauna, however, you are required to 'cover up' once out of the sauna). This is a ‘wild’ sauna, we do have a small changing room, but if you are a little on the shy side, it’s worth bringing a changing robe.

  • Water bottle to stay hydrated while in the sauna.

  • Flip flops, or wetsuit shoes, for easier access to the sea across the pebbles.

What to do:

We recommend 10 - 15 minutes of warming in the sauna. You’ll sit on a small towel (that you’ll bring), and you may want to wear a sauna hat (which we can provide). Remove your jewellery, it’ll get very hot, so it’s a good idea to leave it at home. The sauna will be between 60-80C….AND RELAX….

Next up…cooling! You can use buckets of cold water, a cold plunge in the sea, or just stand outside! Please note, if you choose to plunge in the sea you should be aware of the risks.

…REPEAT! After a few cycles of this practice you’ll feel refreshed and revitalised.

Please ensure you gave also read our information about safe sauna use.
